I've been trying to learn Romanian off and on for 5 years and haven't had much success. Sure, I can order food at a restaurant and make small talk, but I'm light years away from cursing out a bad driver in traffic.
So now I'm trying something different. For 90 days I'm using Claude to help me be consistent.
The System
100 verbs. 3 tenses. 30 minutes a day.
Claude prepares a daily task for me that I need to check off. Some days I focus on the present, past and future tenses for 10 verbs and using them in sentences.
Other days I practice speaking 15 minutes with an AI tool, or 20 minutes of listening to Romanian podcasts and learning videos. Or I watch cartoons in Romanian like Peppa Pig and try to repeat everything I hear.
Weekly Check-In
At the end of the week, I do a cold test on the 10 verbs and roll the ones I failed into next week's warm-up.
Look, I'm not saying I'll learn Romanian because of Claude. But what I have now is like a coach keeping me in check and helping me progress. Something I've been missing all this time.
What's Next
Voi reveni peste 90 de zile to report on my progress.
The bottom line? After five years of scattered attempts, I finally have structure. A daily task. A weekly test. And an AI coach that doesn't let me slack off.
Sometimes what's missing isn't motivation. It's accountability.
If you're in Bucharest and want to learn how to use Claude, I'm co-creating an AI Circle on Sep 14th.
